High Holiday Food Collection
Congregation Shalom has an annual tradition of collecting non-perishable goods and monetary donations for grocery gift cards for the High Holidays. Donated items will be brought to several local food pantries including The Open Table in Lowell, The Chelmsford Food Pantry, The Merrimack Food Bank (which services 100 communities in MA and NH), and Loaves & Fishes in Ayer, MA.
Non-perishable items can be dropped off at the temple at the following times:
October 1st, before the 7:00pm Kol Nidre service. Look for the car in the parking lot with an open trunk, friendly Social Action volunteer and a poster.
October 2nd, before the 9:00am family service. Drop off at the welcome table.
October 2nd, before the 10:45am adult service. Look for the car in the parking lot with an open trunk, friendly Social Action volunteer and a poster.
Contact Tina at [email protected] to make arrangements to drop off at her family home in Chelmsford.
If you are at the temple when there are no services going on, drop your donation in the plastic bin in the lobby
High Holiday Donations for Grocery Gift Cards
Monetary donations in any amount are always welcome and will be used, as is our tradition, to purchase grocery gift cards that will also be distributed as mentioned above. Remember that the purchase of these gift cards will also earn the temple 6% and it's tax-deductible for you, making it a win-win-win.
If you wish to send a check, please make it payable to Congregation Shalom and make a note that it's for the High Holiday Food Drive. Please make any monetary donations by October 15th.
