You're home for the Holidays.
Holidays at Congregation Shalom combine traditions, old and new, with music, creativity and community.
High Holidays
We welcome you to join our congregational family for a truly meaningful High Holiday experience. We offer a variety of services designed to meet the spiritual needs of our diverse community. From services for young children, to a creative Yizkor service remembering loved ones, there are many opportunities for prayer, music, reflection and learning.
In the tradition of Congregation Shalom’s founding families, no tickets are required for our High Holiday services. All services are open to members and non-members alike.
Sukkot
Every year, our Brotherhood builds a wonderful sukkah on the Temple grounds. We gather together to decorate the sukkah with handmade creations and perform the mitzvah of the lulav and etrog. Afterwards we dine together in and around the sukkah and continue the celebration.
Simchat Torah
Simchat Torah is a joyous celebration for our community. With music and dance, consecration and interactive Torah chanting, we complete the cycle of reading the Torah and immediately begin again!
Hanukkah
Our celebration of hanukkah is full of light and life. In the school we celebrate with a yearly menorah-making contest, dance party and hundreds of latkes fried up by our Brotherhood. On Shabbat Hanukkah people are invited to bring their menorahs and we fill our sanctuary with music of the holiday.
Purim
At Congregation Shalom we celebrate Purim with a lively shpiel and our annual Purim Carnival. Children come in costume, hear the megillah and sing, all before participating in games, crafts and activities. Of course we feast on hamantaschen and other special treats.
Passover
On the second night of Passover our community celebrates the festival of freedom with a seder led by Rabbi Perry and Ari Strasser. The seder is interactive and fun for people of all ages and backgrounds.
Yizkor Services
We remember loved ones with Yizkor three times a year, during the Festivals of Sukkot, Pesach and Shavuot.
Livestream
Our services are open to all. If you can't attend in person, we hope you'll join us via our livestream.
